About Open Water Swimming Tasmania

Tasmania offers an amazing variety of swimming environments - from calm estuaries and ocean beaches to remote tarns, rivers and highland lakes. Many of these places remain relatively unknown outside of local communities.

Open Water Swimming Tasmania was borne out of those two passions: a love of open water swimming and a love of Tasmania.

Our aim is to encourage more people to connect with Tasmania through swimming. Whether it's a quick sunrise dip, a long coastal swim, or a plunge into an alpine lake after a hike, Tasmania provides experiences unlike anywhere else.

We want to share information about where and how to swim safely, build connections by helping you find people to swim or dip with, and inspire you to explore some of our incredible wild places.

Come on - dive in!

We acknowledge the Palawa as the Traditional Custodians of Lutruwita (Tasmania).

We recognise their enduring connection to Country, waters and sky, and pay our respect to Elders past and present.

We honour the care and stewardship of Lutruwita's rivers, lakes and sea over countless generations, and recognise that these waterways continue to hold deep cultural, spiritual and environmental significance.
