The Trans Derwent Swim is a staple of the Royal Hobart Regatta and takes place on the Sunday of the long weekend.

The traditional swim comprises a 1.5km route that crosses the width of the River Derwent from Montagu Bay on the eastern shore to the Regatta Grounds in Hobart.

Since its inception, the Trans Derwent Swim has become a must-do for locals, as well as interstate and international visitors. The swim caters for 100+ swimmers, who must brave the dark waters and strong tide of the River Derwent in this challenging feat.

Meet at the Regatta Grounds for transport to the other side of the river.
